About Us
St. Mary's Cathedral, known as St. Marien Kathedrale in German, is a Roman Catholic church in Windhoek, Namibia. The church features a porch topped by three semi-circular arches and a steeple. It is flanked by two quadrangular twin towers that rise to the height of four floors and are crowned by arrows that are painted white. The church was built between 1906 and 1908 using local materials but it manifests elements of Romanesque revival style.
The St. Mary’s Cathedral is currently under the leadership of Fr. Johannes Shalongo OMI. He is assisted in the Parish Office by an Office Administrator, Sr. Patricia Ananias, responsible for administration and preparation of church services, and Sister responsible for managing the finances of the Parish.
The Parish Priest in addition to the Office Staff, is assisted by the Parish Pastoral Committee (PPC), and the Parish Finance Committee (PFC).
The PPC serves a three-year term, and facilitates proper consultation and common action in matters concerning religious formation and pastoral action in the Parish, and promote and make proposals to the Parish Priest regarding implementation of diocesan pastoral policy
